Tribute to Jyoti Chandekar
Jyoti Chandekar, a renowned figure in the Marathi film industry, sadly passed away on August 16 at approximately 4 PM. Reports indicate that she had been receiving medical treatment prior to her death. Chandekar was particularly celebrated for her portrayal of Purna Aji in the popular series ‘Tharal Tar Mag’.
Her daughter, actress Tejaswini Pandit, confirmed the heartbreaking news through an official statement. Tejaswini shared that the funeral for Jyoti Chandekar is scheduled for August 17 at 11 AM, taking place at the Navi Peth Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune.
In her emotional message, Tejaswini expressed, "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and a cherished senior actress, Mrs. Jyoti Chandekar Pandit. She lived life on her own terms and always greeted everyone with a warm smile. She left us on August 16th at the age of 69 after a brief illness."
The statement continued, "Her funeral will be held tomorrow, August 17th, at 11 AM at the Navi Peth Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune. With heavy hearts, Tejaswini Pandit, Pornima Pandit, and the entire Chandekar-Pandit family."
With a career spanning over five decades, Jyoti Chandekar began her journey in the entertainment industry at just 12 years old. She is remembered for her roles in notable films such as Dholki, Paulavat, Salaam, and Sanjparv. Additionally, she made appearances in popular television series like ‘Tu Saubhagyavati Ho’ and ‘Chhatriwali’.
